The Art of the Dicker Part II
Second in a Series of Articles Designed to Help You Become a More Knowledgeable and Successful Buyer...
As a Buyer in serious pursuit of an antique or vintage collectible, you have a fair number of responsibilities and self-preservation tactics that you should address before you ever set foot on the sales floor. Just tossing your purse, a zip-lock full of Oreo's (or is that just me?), cell phone and hind-end in the car isn’t doing anything to prepare you or turn the tables to your advantage when you head out to hunt down, kill, drag home & eventually display the items you are seeking
It is your responsibility to have a fairly good idea of the availability (or rarity), as well as the values of the items you seek to collect or you plan to sell. This is part of the “Buyer (or Seller) Beware Clause.”

20 Mule Team Town or I got lost yesterday on my way home from the hardware store!
Borax. Do any of you use it on your vintage linens or your everyday laundry? I use it as a detergent booster and a stain remover. It softens the water and seems to remove rust stains when combined with lemon juice. Good stuff.
Borax is made from boron, a mineral found in the Mojave Desert, in a little old company town called what else? Boron. I wished that I'd had my camera with me so that I could publish pics on my blogspot blog, my phone's camera lens is broken so no deal there or I would've posted pics of the hills of white in the middle of my high desert home.

There's a 20 Mule Team Museum there in Boron, and the 20 Mule Team Restaurant....which serves the best Mexican food in very healthy portions.
I had a 'wet' burrito. Before your mind wanders where it shouldn't....a wet burrito is one topped with enchilada sauce and melted cheese. As opposed to a dry burrito that would be served sans sauce. I had the chicken because I just don't tolerate red meat like I used to and hubby had....what else? the burger combo.

Something has you in its thrall…it has you peering into dark corners, scavenging in old boxes and crawling under furniture. It entices you to seek it out, cart it home, fill your space with it and empty your wallet for it. No, you haven’t become addicted to the latest psycho-tropic drug… It’s something much worse…something more insidious…something that may even cause your spouse to threaten to take the kids and leave…you have become…a COLLECTOR!!! When the linens were ready for embroidery, they were brought from the factory to the countryside homes of skilled embroideresses who were paid by the stitch!

Articles & Experts : "English Transfer Ware" By DeerPath Vintage
I started collecting transfer ware around 30 years ago, when I had no money and it was cheap. I loved the look of those under glazed engravings, and I always felt I was getting away with something when I could pick them up for practically nothing.

I don’t remember which one was my very first piece, and before I started writing this article, I honestly wasn’t aware of how many pieces I actually had around here. I haven’t counted them but I’m guessing it’s upwards of 100. I have about 50 pieces of Johnson Bros. “Friendly Village” alone, and the rest are single pieces.......... continued

Save the Planet!!!! Buy Vintage!!!!

That's right! Buying Vintage is a great way to help save the planet from pollution. We all know that a ton of trash builds up all over the world each day, but not all of it needs to be there.
How many of us have thrown away perfectly good items because we no longer had a use for it? We're all guilty... but we can do better. :)
It's not only about pollution, it's also about preserving our past. Vintage items take us back in time and give us a real sense of curiosity... curiosity about the people and the
So do the right thing... go out and buy some Vintage Today!!!!
